Dr. Simela is a board-certified dermatologist with interests in skin of color, acne, hair disorders, and cosmetic dermatology. She received her Bachelor’s with honors in biology and mathematics from Rosemont College, PA. She also received her Master’s in Biological Sciences from Drexel University. She obtained her medical degree, graduating in the top quartile of her class, at New York Institute of Technology – College of Osteopathic Medicine. After her internship, she completed a clinical research fellowship at a top New York institution, with an emphasis on acne and cosmetic medicine.
She has authored numerous publications in dermatology journals, with a focus in “skin of culture,” as she likes to call it. Dr. Simela is a member of The American Academy of Dermatology, American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, American Osteopathic Association, The Dermatological Society of NJ, Skin of Color Society, and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
