Another successful wedding weekend! It is always a pleasure working with other local vendors to make a memorable event come together. The attendees enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Chef Sarah that included a salad with candied pecans, and goat cheese, with balsamic vinaigrette, and a butternut squash bisque with Brie and apple grilled cheese. The main course was a red wine braised short rib, Mabs' mustard-maple roasted chicken, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, and roasted vegetables. For dessert, a beautiful and delicious cake by Simply Sweet by Jessica. It was such a beautiful venue, and the flowers from A.R. Pontius Flower Shop in Harbor Springs were a gorgeous addition to the fall table settings. KEY POINTS:
✔️The Health Department of Northwest Michigan is reporting 51 new confirmed cases in Antrim (4), Charlevoix (7), Emmet (27), and Otsego (13) counties. Case investigation and contact tracing are in progress, and relevant information will be shared when it is available.
👍We continue to ask that anyone getting tested for COVID-19 isolate until they get their results. Recently there has been an increase in the number of reported close contacts of confirmed cases. The challenge is that the infectious period begins 2 days before the development of symptoms, so by the time a person knows they are sick they have already exposed others for a couple of days. That is why quarantine after exposure and/or testing is so important, typically if someone is maintaining quarantine when/if they develop symptoms the only people exposed are household members.

Sarah and Matt got married in August at Sarah's family's cabin on the lake. From the lakeside cabin, dancing in the sand, and a wonderful couple we had all you could need for this beautiful Higgins Lake wedding. It was the perfect place and the most beautiful weather you could ask for on a summer wedding day. It was a sunny 80 degree day with a comfortable breeze coming off the lake. The sun moved just in time to give the ceremony location full shade which was perfect for the guest. We were fortunate to have such an incredible location and family to work with, especially given the current circumstances.
Due to COVID-19 Sarah and Matt had to have their wedding downstate cancelled, that is when they decided to get married at Sarah's family's cabin on Higgins Lake. The cabin has a lot of history and was originally purchased by Sarah's great grandfather in the 1940s and has been passed down from generation to generation. Sarah has grown up spending as many summers there as possible so it felt like the most fitting place to host an intimate wedding with 50 of their closest friends and family!
Three words to describe this Higgins Lake wedding: colorful, rich in history, and fun!
