"On May 11th of this year I got sick and couldn’t walk on my right leg. We weren’t sure what was wrong. My leg began to swell and turn a purple color. I ended up going to the hospital and found out that I had a deep vein thrombosis that ran the full length of my right leg. It was extremely painful. The first hospital where I was diagnosed could not find a doctor that would treat me because of my age.So, I was taken by ambulance to Texas Children’s Hospital. The doctors and nurses took great care of me! I had a thrombectomy and had to learn to walk on my leg again. Now I can walk, run, and continue to play basketball. I am so grateful to the Hematology Team at Texas Children's Hospital," shares Josiah Fogg, patient at Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Centers, in honor of World Thrombosis Day.
