A reckless driver insured by Liberty Mutual ran off the road and slammed into multiple cars at his place of work, including his 2019 Camaro S52. Repair cost to his car were $15,080.24. He asked for diminished value, and was told by the insurance company there was no diminished value. He hired me and they hired an appraiser. Their independent appraiser sent me his ridiculous paperwork saying the loss of value was only $1570.00. After he got my paperwork and rather spirited discussion we agreed the vehicle owner was entitled to $5800.00 for the diminished value to his car. Following the manufacturer repair guidelines (OEM Procedures) is becoming more and more accepted as the "must-do" when performing repairs on your vehicle. CCC is a widely used repair management tool that is now recommending a body shop review and confirm OEM repair procedures while drafting an estimate. In addition, some new wording added to the system now is under the assumption that the shop will follow OEM procedures.
