Today we would like to introduce you to Bill Gust. Bill served in World War 2 with the US Army from 12/21/1942 to 1/29/1946. He spent 2 years, 3 months and 26 days overseas. The fought in the battles at New Guinea and the invasion and liberation of the Philippines. He went on to serve in the Korean War with the California Army National Guard as an infantryman. Below is a photo of him and his unit patch from his Army days. Bill is also a Korean War veteran.

Today we would like to introduce you to our Veteran resident Bill Wilson! Bill鈥檚 mother was the secretary to the Captain of the Naval Air station and it was suggested Bill go to military school. He went to Valley Forge Military Academy. After graduating, he was visiting family in Philadelphia. There he was taken on a plane ride by a former enlisted Navy pilot and told about the Navy Cadet program (NAVCAD). Bill took all the exams and was accepted. He was called up to the NAVCAD program in the fall of 1951. He moved to various air stations to complete his air training and finished flying the AD-1 Skyraider in Corpus Christi. He wanted to be in a ground attack squadron and was assigned to VA-145. His next assignment was in the Naval tactical data system. From there he was sent to Japan and his job was to keep track of radar and missile sites. Bill was also a jet pilot flight instructor. His enlistment ended in 1955, he went to UC Berkeley and was in a naval reserve squadron based in Oakland. When his last commanding officer asked him to rejoin the active Navy, he did.

Debbie is very much loved by all the Resident's here at The Chateau at Harveston and they wanted to show her how much they love and appreciate her by writing notes to her expressing what they love most about her. You are an amazing person Debbie and The Chateau is so lucky to have you!
