The Counseling Center is happy to announce the start of a new EMDR Consultation Group. The group will be facilitated by Wayne King, LCSW-C, an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant and Trainer. This training will focus on using EMDR Therapy to treat clients with Complex PTSD and Dissociative Disorders. We will use case presentations and didactic learning to cover a range of topics including Case Conceptualization, Treatment Planning, and Managing Dissociation. This group is for EMDR-Trained clinicians who have completed Parts 1 and 2 of the Basic Training and have experience treating clients with Complex PTSD and Dissociative Disorders. The group is scheduled to meet on Zoom every Tuesday from 12:00-1:00 (EST) starting on March 23. The fee is $55 per session. Creative and experiential techniques can greatly aid us in doing this work, especially when many sessions are happening virtually throughout a pandemic. For the first time, many of us are experiencing similar stressors and triggers as our clients. This is requiring clinicians to explore countertransference in a unique and new way. Using creative techniques allows a space for clinicians to reflect and contain their client’s stressors as well as their own feelings.
