To the clients-the friends and family, I have had the privilege of meeting at the Cuttin club, it is with sadness as I write that my time at the Cuttin Club will slow down and eventually be discontinued within the next couple of weeks as I have been given the opportunity to further myself in the social work career. This is one of the hardest parts of change and transition that I have ever had to be faced with, and I would like to further explain the reasoning...
9 years ago I walked in to the shop( I had always been a client for)for an interview. It goes without saying that the salon has always had a culture that was different than any other;as the walls were lined with quotes and sayings regarding kindness, passion, and friendship. The culture I speak of is directed by the fact that these quotes were not just hung for show-but practiced and enacted by the staff of the shop, generating a true sense of love and companionship from hairdresser to hairdresser/hairdresser to client-to the children of clients-to the parents of clients-to the mailman and everyone in between. If you have been a client of the shop, you know this to be the case as well being you have come since childhood,being dragged by your mom for a back-to-school haircut, till you were an adult with your own children dragging your kids AND your mom now for theirs!! The atmosphere created by Laura and the team has nurtured relationships with numerous generations for years now-and proves that love goes way beyond the chair.
With this being said-the C-spot was there for me through some of the most challenging times in my life as well as some of the greatest. The salon became a refuge, a safe place, and a home. I spent the most trying days of my life, walking into the salon and breathing a sigh of relief. I have watched the salon be that same refuge for others. I have come to know and love so many people thanks to the salon.The lessons I have learned as part of the cuttin club extend far beyond measure and have created a foundation I will carry with me throughout this lifetime.
Thank you to clients who have been open to letting me get to know you and your stories, as well as your families. I am forever thankful for the salon for the way it helped me find myself-and owe all that to Laura and the women I have had the pleasure of working beside, both past and present. I admire you all more than you will ever know for your strong sense of self and resilience.It was truly more than a job, it was everything I never knew I needed.
As I wrap this up, SO EMOTIONAL, I want to be sure to answer any questions or address any concerns if there is any! I will be there for a couple of more weeks but did want to mention it here as well.
