The Dayton Regional STEM School is a public school in Kettering, OH serving grades 6-12 with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
At The Dayton Regional STEM School (DRSS), we are educating the next generation of scientists, engineers, strategists, planners, innovators, manufacturers, and entrepreneurs for the Dayton Region. At DRSS, students engage in a seamless, inquiry-based, individualized learning experience dedicated to using STEM across a liberal arts curriculum to solve complex problems. As part of their educational experience, students participate in authentic, real-world experiences with practicing scientists, engineers, and technical professionals at businesses and organizations all over the Miami Valley.
DRSS prides itself on being a project-based learning (PBL) school, where students learn by doing. We are also focused on career exploration and preparation, and many of our industry partners help us achieve our career preparation goals by participating in our annual Career Fair event, hosting our students for job shadow opportunities and internships, and by guest lecturing in our classes. Our school also prides itself on being a “STEAM” school (Arts & STEM), and was one of eight schools nationally recognized for our “model STEAM program” by the President’s Council for the Arts & Humanities and OvationTV with the “innOVATION STEAM Grant Award” in 2015.
At DRSS, we encourage students to apply who exhibit the following characteristics:
* Have a strong interest in STEM,
* Exhibit leadership skills or a desire to develop leadership skills,
* Are committed to reaching their full potential as a student,
* Are willing to work with enthusiasm and a commitment to excellence, individually and in groups.
