George Sarris founded The Fish Market in Birmingham more than three decades ago. When he expanded to Gadsden, protege Charlie Hayes came to get the fledgling establishment on its feet.
In short order, Sarris entrusted his brand to Hayes, who tailored The Fish Market concept to suit the needs and desires of his new “hometown.” Tableside service, a booming catering business and partnerships with local producers are a few of the ways he has made The Fish Market part of the landscape of Gadsden.
Corporate citizenship is an important part of The Fish Market’s community commitment. Hayes and his staff, several of whom have been with him since the restaurant opened, host a shrimp and crawfish boil each May that benefits the James M. Barrie Center for Children, the local child advocacy center.
Food is central to this story, and Hayes and his team bring in fresh seafood from the Gulf to ensure quality dining experiences. A variety of steaks, chops and salads means everyone can find something they love.
The Coosa River is just steps away from the patio, and Good Time Charlie’s Oyster Bar has the feel of a neighborhood pub. Come experience The Fish Market, and help us write the next chapter in our story.
