Len and Missy,
Debbie and I can’t thank you enough for the help you provided in locating the perfect place for Dad. From the very start of our search, through actually finding the Glendale and moving Dad in, was a total of four weeks! I don’t know how that was accomplished, but we could not have done it without you.
We moved Dad in on Friday, 9/25, and Julie has texted us with a weekend report. Dad did very well, he was confused at different times, but they were easily able to redirect him and he was very pleasant. Yay! He is enjoying the three prepared meals a day, and he is amazed they do his laundry for him. 😊
Debbie and I look forward to the completion of the first two weeks – we’re allotting this as an “adjustment period”. However, we believe Dad is in a good place, and the decision is bringing the both of us peace of mind knowing we have done the right thing for Dad.

Halloween Trick or Treat Parade
Hello November! The year is nearly at the end and we are still holding our own here at the Glendale. This Veterans Day we will be celebrating in house to protect all of our folks. We are planning a special luncheon and ceremony to honor our 12 Veterans here. Thank you to everyone for respecting our visit protocols and being patient as we work through this new normal.
Trick or Treat Parade was an amazing success!! Thank you to everyone that helped and came out! Our residents had such a great time! Thank you St John’s volunteers for all of your help!!

We got in a little putting practice today!
Yesterday we installed our year long craft project at the Manor House in Wildwood Metropark. This is an annual event that has been ongoing for 45yrs; we have participated for the last 12yrs. Our residents and I select a theme and create decorations all year long for this sole purpose. Then during a 2 day period, the residents decorate our designated room. They are always so proud of what they have done. Usually I wait to share this until after the house opens, but since the opening is uncertain, and most likely to be virtual, I’m posting it now. I wanted to share with you what we work so hard on. Many hands shared in this project over the last 7 months, from counting ornaments to operating a sewing machine to assisting in setup. I hope you Enjoy!
Happy December to all our FB Family and Friends! This holiday season will be looking different for all of us and we are working hard to keep everyone here in the holiday spirit! We are doing lots of holiday crafts and activities and even throwing a virtual holiday party that everyone is welcome to get in on! Look for the posted event for details and be sure to register!

At this point, almost 95% of our residents have received the Covid Vaccine! We are all very excited and eager to get back out into the community! We are starting cautiously, private functions and classes that will only expose us to 1-3 isolated people at a time. We will continue to do testing and monitoring in house as well. We are also eager to have entertainers back in the building too! We have a barrier that Pete (Maintenance) and I built for the entertainers as an extra precaution. And we have started community dining for everyone that has been vaccinated. Everyone is so happy to see their old friends and make some new ones too!

After lots of deliberation, the winners are the 1st place Wagner Family with Concord Grape, 2nd place Shultz Family with Cheese “Cake” Pie, and 3rd place Eve Jurski with Key Lime “Cheesecake” Pie (so sorry I didn’t get the picture of that one because it was so pretty!)
