📝 SEPTEMBER RENOVATION UPDATE 📚 How is it September already?! 2020 feels like the longest, and sometimes the shortest year ever! Longest, because.. COVID-19. Shortest, because.. We’re renovating! We have flip flopped the store successfully! Honestly our employees, the frontline, boots on the ground employees made it happen. It was a huge undertaking, but they kept all the moving parts in a row. Flip flopped, you say? YES! We’re now operating out of the one bay that we started with in way back in 2012 before we knocked the wall down! But this time, it’s only for a short stint. We have been making major headway on the renovation! 💜The patio outside is looking awesome- it’ll be ready for gatherings as soon as COVID allows! 💚The new flooring is gorgeous and unique 💜Bathrooms are being moved to the back wall to allow more open space for shopping 💚Spot Washes- this is a big one! They will be fully enclosed! Not only will it help reduce your animals stress and excitability as you wash them, it’ll keep our store cleaner, making it a better shopping experience. 💜 The question everydog has been asking: YES! When the renovation is over, nail trims and grooming will resume! We can’t wait to get back to pampering your pet. 👏🏽 When will spot washes, grooming and nail trims resume? We have a target date of sometime in October to be finished with construction. Jess’ friends at Nebraska Humane Society helped her find the cutest pup - she and River knew it was meant to be! River is loving exploring the store, getting to know her new family, even her pup cousins come to play with her! We’re feeling thankful to have a crazy loyal group of customers that have helped us continue to “wag on!”. Downright good people. But, as with every group of people, there are sadly a couple sour grapes.. The short version? Since this is a family owned business, family comes first. Our team (and dedicated, kind customers!) are family. To the folks who are trying to poison our beautiful store with anger and yelling.... ✌🏽we will always back our team and hate has no home here. Pretty simple. The long version: Each person on our team is highly trained, not only in dog and cat nutrition and our wide product selection, but also in how to care for you! We don’t hire cashiers to simply complete your purchases.. our system offers a self-checkout option (but we plan to never turn that option on!) We want you to be taken care of from beginning to end! Not only does our team “know their stuff”, they have also cheerfully helped TGS survive this past year by pivoting with us and learning new programs, processes and procedures in order to keep everyone as safe as possible. In addition to learning a whole new way of doing their jobs, they all did it with a smile under their masks! We’re a small team here and we work hard to protect our pack and the tight-knit family culture we’ve developed. We are SO SO thankful to our customers for sticking by our side while we work out the kinks that come along with these new processes and procedures. We aim to bring joy and happiness to you and your pets’ through our in-store experiences as well as online! With all of that said, we’ve mostly received positive feedback on how our team and store has operated during COVID. Our team is trying their best, so please be patient with them. Our phones are busier than ever, cleaning processes take longer than before, messages sometimes come in faster than they can be responded to. For these things, we are glad, we are happy to come to work, we know that we are privileged to have jobs. We also know some of these things have slowed down or inhibited your experience. In the past week, several of our team members have been verbally harassed or threatened because a customer disagrees with our stores’ mask policy. We totally understand that there are varying opinions on this and that everyone is dealing with frustrations coming from all directions. However, we will not tolerate taking out your frustrations on our team members. We aren’t much for “but”... but taking out frustrations on our employees just isn’t going fly. We’re so sad that multiple customers have taken out their frustrations on our team members, as our store has turned into so much more than a retail space- it’s turned into a family. Our team is our life blood, and we will not have them fielding anger, obscenities, and aggression. For their mental health, wellbeing and satisfaction on the job. Please- let us talk with you about these things, as our team has already taken a lot in the last 11 months. If you are struggling with ANY policy or procedure of ours- please email us!
