Sloppy Joe's Bar Key West ropened Thursday after being closed six months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A few Ernest Hemingway look-alikes even stopped in for a cold one. Nearly three hours before midnight, perched in a giant red high-heel shoe replica suspended from a second-story balcony, drag queen “Sushi” was lowered from the complex's balcony in a symbolic welcome to the new year.
