For more than 60 years, the exceptional caregivers at The Kennedy Center in Trumbull, CT, have been providing support and resources to people with disabilities and their families. The facility’s devoted team provides social, recreational, educational, vocational, therapeutic, and residential services to more than 2,400 special needs individuals. Their tailored programs enable children, adults, and elderly groups with disabilities to become active members within their communities.
The populations served by The Kennedy Center include individuals with acquired brain injuries, physical and intellectual disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder, among others. They also specialize in working with seniors, including those who have Alzheimer’s, dementia, or are medically fragile. Through a welcoming intake process, the staff members meet with each interested individual to provide recommendations for specific services.
In addition to residential and day support services, The Kennedy Center offers job placement, school transition, and mobility services. Their compassionate caregivers also provide support in the areas of life skills and community integration. Through creative and engaging programs, such as art therapy, attendees learn to express themselves in healthy, meaningful ways.
