Hands down one of our most favorite type of appointments is the FIRST EVER VISIT! 💛 We love helping little kids feel comfortable at the dentist, and connecting with the parent/guardian is equally important. Also, we’re pretty sure that Dr. Bienstock was made for this! ☺️ She truly loves kids! 💛 If you’re unsure about bringing your little one in, we encourage you to start them early, get them comfortable, be a positive example, and always ask any questions you may have along the way!

One of the most common questions we get is “What age should I bring my child in for their first dental visit?” According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the first dental visit should occur when the first tooth appears or by the child’s first birthday. A lot of parents are surprised by this but during those first visits, the dentist will check for palate abnormalities, lip/tongue ties, visible signs of concern, and more. Sippy cups are a great way to transition your toddler off the bottle. The only time we recommend you give your child anything but water is during mealtimes. If your little one is sipping on liquids containing sugar (like milk or juice) throughout the day, the sugar increases bacteria growth and your child’s risk of cavities. #NCDHM
