In honor of Suicide Prevention Month, our Executive Director, Julia Hebenstreit along with Gene Klein, the Executive Director of Project Harmony wrote an Op-Ed in the Omaha World-Herald. We are so grateful more and more people are having the conversation about mental health and suicide prevention...
"We must have the conversation about mental health and suicide and not shy away from it at the risk of losing friends or having people judge you. Talking about suicide does not put the idea in someone’s mind. More often than not, they are grateful someone cared enough to reach out."

Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay, which is a day where we can all...
✔️ Remind ourselves it's okay not to be okay
✔️ Have conversations with friends & family about how their mental health is
✔️ Educate ourselves on mental health
By having open and honest conversations we can all work to break down the stigma surrounding mental health so EACH person feels like they can get the help they need and deserve because help is available!

After a suicide, loved ones are forced to cope with a loss like no other. The pain may feel insurmountable. The Metro Area LOSS (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors) team is here to help ALL who are impacted by the death of a loved one to suicide. The LOSS team consists of clinical professionals and suicide survivors, overseen by an advisory board that includes law enforcement officials, clergy members and community partners. These volunteers serve as a supportive resource in the aftermath of a suicide death. Survivors offer insight by sharing their personal stories about life after loss and by their presence as a source of strength and hope for the newly bereaved.
Contact loss@thekimfoundation.org or call 402-891-6911 for more information. If you are interested in volunteering to be a LOSS team member, please apply here: https://www.thekimfoundation.org/metro-area-loss-team/

Each and everyday we have the power to prevent suicide & help individuals who are struggling. Please remember you are NEVER alone and help is always available. 💛
