Run Like a Girl 2020! Year 6 & 10K in the books! Great job Nicole & Jodelle for supporting the American Heart Association. Well done ladies!
On this day... 19 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted. #wewillneverforget

Monday Message: The past 6+ months I've heard the phrase "our kids have already lost so much" countless times. And, my friends, I'm over it. It's a bit pathetic, in my opinion, that as adults we are perpetuating the victim mentality for our kids instead of teaching them the art of grit and pivoting in unexpected or challenging times. Using a current issue as an example, are kids really going to "suffer" of they don't trick or treat? No. Only if WE (the adults) model a "loss" mindset. What if, instead, families looked at it as a way to plan a really fun evening? Maybe doing a family art project, bobbing for apples in mixing bowls, packaging up sweet treats to door drop for neighbors, creating a spooky themed meal together. I assure you, if WE (the adults) started finding the OPPORTUNITY instead of inflating the perceived losses, we may actually find that we have opportunities to create lasting memories for our children. They'll remember that year they had a SPECIAL Halloween instead of trick or treating like every other year. Shift your OWN perspective so we can look back at this time and remember how much our kids (and ourselves) LEARNED during the pandemic, not lost. Opportunities are everywhere. For more quality time. For more exploring. For more conversations. For slowing down. Mindset matters, friends. And WE are setting the stage for the next generation. Let's do better....for them and for ourselves.
As seen in The Columbus Dispatch- Dear Editor, I read with interest the article on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 with respect to the cost of the Crew Stadium. To keep the Crew from leaving Columbus, $146.3 million in public funds were given to the team. These monies will provide 34 luxury suites, 2,000 club and loge seats, five special club lounges which could be as large as 15,000 square feet. There is a governmental authority “monitoring” this project. One of the last official acts of this authority was to hand a check in the amount of $51.3 million to the team for use as they see fit. This article went on for several columns about governmental largess being provided to the team. As we know, calendar year 2020 has been strife with racial injustice with most people trying to come to terms with an appropriate response. An appropriate response might be to have funded low income housing, affordable healthcare, jobs training and addressing systemic racial prejudice. I will admit my undergraduate degree was in political science. However, I can do this math. If we are going to address poverty, racism and homelessness these issues have to be at least as important as a new stadium. Craig P. Scott | Attorney at Law
