She got the virus. Then she was fired. Some sick workers left in cold by employers.
In California workers' compensation is a benefit delivery system. Meaning when you get injured on the job and seek workers' compensation benefits, you are NOT suing your employer. You are merely applying for workers' compensation benefits. The best way employers can protect themselves from liability is to create a safe working environment for their employees and customers. A blanket legal immunity unjustly shifts this burden to employees who are over burden to begin with. Do not believe the hype like the below article!

Businesses Want Liability Protection In The Next Stimulus Bill. Here’s Why
If you think your employer will take care of you if you get exposed to COVID-19 at work think again. Although there are presumptions in place that are supposed to proctect injuried workers. Employers, insurance companies and their attorney's will use anything to deny benefits to workers benefits who get exposed to COVID-19 at work. What's more scary are that some employers are telling workers who do contract COVID-19 to not diclose to anyone their positive test and where the contracted it from. I know this from personel experience with some of my client's.
Put it another way, anything a workers says will be used against them by their employer if they contract COVID-19. Thus, its imperative if you contract COVID-19 at work to contact a workers' compensation attorney immediately. I can be reached at 619-285-3978 if you have any questions.
