The basement of our Youth and Family Center needed a major refresh. River + Pearls (riverandpearls.org), a local non-profit, gave the room a much needed makeover to create a special place for our youth to experience hope, healing and growth. We are grateful to River + Pearls and their friends who also contributed to this gift, The D & T Lerner Foundation, The Light Center, and Conduct All Electric! We know this renovation will inspire our youth and they’ll never want to leave. Check out the before and after video below:)

We asked Carrie what one of her favorite holiday traditions was growing up, and this was her response: "We used to do a 7 course feast of 7 fishes where each course was a fish. We would sing a Chistmas carol in between each course. It is an Italian tradition although my family isn't Italian, so I don't know how we adopted it!"

Here's Allison's favorite holiday tradition growing up: "Every year, my Dad and I would cut down our own Christmas tree. I grew up on an island off of the coast of Georgia. So the Christmas trees available for us to cut down, were located in the marshes. The estuaries there are not as wild as the everglades, but as a kid, it definitely felt like it! To prepare to go out into the marsh, we had to wear old clothes, put on our winter fishing jackets and pull on our worn-in wellies. Then we would pull off the side of the road and walk out into the marsh and choose our Cedar tree to cut down. I'll always remember cutting down Christmas trees with my Dad!"
