Meet "Rosie" the bat, a pretty pink bat who's taking a journey around The Little Traveler throughout the rest of October. Every few days, you can find her in a different spot. When you snap a picture of her on your phone and show it to our associate at checkout, we'll give you one of these cute witch pins (assorted styles; while supplies last; one per customer).
She'll be in her current spot until Friday. READ THIS BAT FACT FOR A CLUE WHERE TO FIND HER: Bat houses provide safe homes for neighborhood bats. But Rosie is looking for a house that's big enough for her friend, the Golden-crowned Flying Fox, which has a wing-span of 5 feet 6 inches and is the largest flying mammal! Since October is Fair Trade month, we're highlighting these two wonderful Fair Trade organizations.
MATA TRADERS garments and accessories are made by women's cooperatives in India and Nepal. Mata purchases directly benefit the women and their families. The co-ops provide training, fair wages, and supportive benefits like healthcare and child care, literacy classes and financial education.
FAIR ANITA is a Minneapolis-based social enterprise that's all about women investing in women. Many beautiful Fair Anita fashions are handmade by women in Mexico City.

While sampling human snacks in the Wine Room over the weekend, Rosie decided she much prefers her usual diet of insects. Bats help crops, like corn, by eating the insects that could destroy them. For the next few days, Rosie will check out some of the products she's helped make possible by protecting their crops.
