Massage and COVID-19 (as of 3/23/20)
Yesterday, all non-essential business are being asked to shut down in the Kansas City metro area (both sides of state line)
The local and state governments are still trying to figure out what this means for Therapeutic (medical) Massage. We are the most "hands on" of the medical profession and it's really hard to massage from 6 feet away. I have been listening to the strong advice from WHO, the CDC, state government, my liability insurance, professional organizations and peers all saying that massage therapy practices need to close. I and my associates have always kept to CDC standards of cleaning ours suite and hands (Dr OZ has a great YouTube video for hand washing)
Personally, my immune system seems to be occasionally imaginary. A lot of you have immune systems that are equally mythological or at least challenged. I don't want to have first hand experience with this virus and I certainly don't want to pass it on to anyone. I have cancelled all appointments for at least the next 3 weeks. It will be more obvious who has the virus (remember 2 week incubation) and how individuals and governments are going to deal with it by then.
Gift certificates
The biggest problem I have with the shutdown is this is how I pay my bills. (I have a second part time job that pays for my ceramic addiction- it closed down last week). I had to use my savings in October and November due to the flu and dealing with mom.
If you have the means and inclination, you are welcome to buy online gift certificates or packages. I have a wide range from 1 massage to 12 massages (once a month) These can be used for future visits or they make wonderful gifts for Mother's Day, Father's Day or "I just have a lot of stress" day. (your mom said she would like one)

Massage packages are handy because
- it helps you get into a regular, healthy routine of massages and you save $60-$80 per package you don't have to remember cash or credit cards)
- FSA, HSA, cafeteria plans and other pre-tax plans cover massage. (some employers want prescriptions)
- couples and families can share the same package.
If you have a package already, hang on to emailed receipt and we will take care of it the next time I see you
If you are getting a new package, I have the cards (and other gift certificates) with me. Or there are instant gift certificates as well.
