DOL Certified #Apprentices Are On the Job Central Office: An Apprentice and two Journeymen communications workers who were certified through CTDOL’s #Apprenticeship #Training Program recently used their skills to increase wireless access throughout the Central Office building.
The workers, from Mercury Communications Inc. of Stratford, installed the additional access points last week, and were greeted by (above), Deputy Commissioner Danté Bartolomeo and Apprenticeship Program Manager Todd Berch.
CTDOL’s Apprenticeship program combines paid on-the-job training with classroom instruction to certify students for careers in a variety of fields. A journeyman is a worker who has officially completed an apprenticeship.
The Mercury Communications employees pictured above are (from left), Eric Kapusta, an Apprentice (standing on ladder); James Darenzo, a Journeyman; Bruce Daley, also a Journeyman, and Mark Smith, Mercury Sales and Service Account Manager.
