The Merit School of Prince William is located on 2 ½ wooded acres on Spriggs Road. The school offers classes for Preschool through 1st Grade.
The Merit School curriculum is designed to meet the developmental and educational needs of the young child. Virginia’s Foundation Blocks for Early Learning guides us in the literacy, math, science and social science concepts that are developed in our Preschool and Junior Kindergarten programs. The Kindergarten program is designed not only to meet, but also to exceed the Virginia Standards of Learning. Our First Grade is designed to meet the individual needs of each child. Our warm nurturing environment offers students the opportunity to grow academically, emotionally and socially. Our small class size enables the children to consistently receive personal attention from the teacher. Winter, Spring and Summer camp is also offered each year.
Merit’s home-like atmosphere, small classes, and individualized instruction supports our comfortable and child-centered learning environment which eases the transition from home to school for our students and ensures their learning success.
The campus is a green oasis just off of the hustle-bustle of Spriggs Road. Its natural setting with tree-shaded playgrounds, gardens and plantings, sports court, playing field, trike path and covered pavilion provides a child-friendly landscape for learning and fun.
The school buildings have a home-like feel, with warm and welcoming classrooms that are rich in learning and play materials. Our preschool classrooms are designed to enhance the child’s independence and self-reliance skills. The kindergarten and before and after school enrichment programs are housed in suites with designated rooms for learning and for fun. The computer lab, music and Spanish classroom and multi-purpose room support specialty classes that augment our students’ core learning.
Extended Care is offered for elementary students at Rosa Parks, Saunders, Ashland and McAuliffe for the convenience of families in the public school district. Extended Care students are provided a nourishing breakfast and afternoon snack.
