If we didn't say it enough before, we are SO PROUD of our teams coming together at The Monarch at Richardson to celebrate Senior Citizen's Day last month. Today, we found out we WON our company-wide competition! Congratulations to The Sterling Adventura and Heritage of Sandy Plains--you definitely gave us a run for our money!
Another GREAT week at The Monarch! We enjoyed a fun fall party with apple cider floats! This week we also had a pumpkin cookie decorating party and Ellen danced away for us! Our art club painted a beautiful fall painting and we reminisced about fall festivals growing up. Patsy told us how her family grew their own pumpkins every year when she was little! We soaked up the fall weather transition and spent most of our time outdoors! Marcella spent one morning picking the dandelions and was SO proud of the bouquet she made! A wonderful week we had!
We love celebrating staff birthdays! September's party was hosted by the business office and concierge team. The good times definitely rolled with home cooked food made by our two Cajuns-in-residence!
We are living the good life here at The Monarch! This past week we enjoyed a pumpkin painting party, celebrated Ellen and Doris's birthday, learned about different owls and made fun owl snacks, picked fall leaves that fell from our favorite tree, had a dance party, learned about Thailand birds and painted our favorite one, enjoyed the AMAZING weather outdoors and received some special homemade cookies from a supportive family member! A FUN FILLED WEEK! Looking forward to the next! Wahoo!

As a part of our signature program, Solvere Circle, we created collages of images that remind us of things, places, people, etc. that bring us joy. We are putting them on our fridges so we can see them in hopes of putting a smile on our faces amidst the chaos of this pandemic.
Another GREAT week at The Monarch! We couldn't attend the Texas State Fair so we brought it to us! We played games, learned the history of Big Tex and made homemade funnel cakes! We also celebrated the Lone Star State day and had a Texas style party! We made some great tex mex quesadillas and danced to country classics! It was a beautiful week so we enjoyed the outdoors for walking club, yoga on the lawn and a fun ball game! Many special memories created this past week! We are ready for the next!

Today was a big day at The Monarch! We had a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Mayor Pro Tem, Janet DePuy, and Eagle Scout, Thomas Hermann. Thomas's grandmother, Frances, lives here and wanted his Eagle project to impact her in some way, so with much research, fundraising, and a whole crew of Boy Scouts and volunteers, they resurfaced our walking trails, built benches, and raised flower beds for all the residents to enjoy. Today, we christened these walking paths as "Monarch Bluebonnet Trail" and spread bluebonnet seeds. Be sure to watch the 10:00pm news tonight on NBC. You just might see someone you know!

We have been having a blast and busy here at The Monarch! We started the month off by celebrating Black History Month. We studied the life of Frederick Douglass, Rosa Parks, MLK and more! We also enjoyed making West African Trinket boxes! For our Reminiscing Therapy, we remembered our neighborhood Mailman! So many great stories about the friendly and not so friendly mailman in the neighborhoods they grew up! We also studied the life of the first mail lady. They loved it and clapped for her courage at the end. So many sweet cards and letters have been delivered by our great mailman here, so we made him handmade thank you cards! He was OVERYJOYED and appreciated them. The residents were so proud of themselves. We have learned so much lately including, the life of Picasso and got creative making our own! We studied Elephants, Parrots, and the Redwood Forest in California! We also made our own name signs with beautiful redwood planks! We love learning everyday and excited for all the fun we will have this month!

A full fun week here at The Monarch! We enjoyed a GROOVY 1960's love and peace party and each made our own tie dye shirts, ate good food, and danced the evening away! We celebrated MLK Day with a wonderful ceremony of his life. The residents shared their own very interesting experiences with the Civil Rights Movement, and did a group project of Martin Luther King's life in pictures. We enjoyed inauguration day and watched it together in our newly renovated family room around the fireplace. The residents were proud to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and the moment of silence for all the precious lives our country lost to Covid. After the inauguration, we challenged our minds with a fun presidential trivia game, learned the history and interesting facts of past presidential inaugurations, and our choir club sang our favorite American military songs together! This week we also studied Belgium! We learned about the landmarks, culture and food! We then enjoyed yummy Belgium waffles together with fresh fruit on top! A great week of fun, love and laughter!
We are so excited to be in the midst of vaccinations at our community! #BeatCOVID
