We're hiring!
THE MOTTLEY LAW FIRM PLC
Administrative Assistant
The Mottley Law Firm PLC posted a job.
September 24 at 5:28 PM ·
WANTED:
Rock Star Team Member
We could have run a boring ad for an “office admin.” But we are not looking for just another boring office admin type of person. We are looking for a Rockstar Team Member with a service-oriented frame of mind even before they’ve had their first cup of coffee in the morning!
We are a small, two-attorney boutique law firm with a civil litigation law practice. We are in the near west end of Richmond, Virginia, just off Interstate 64. We are looking to grow a great team of people who work well together to take our growing litigation firm to the next level. To learn more about us, visit www.mottleylawfirm.com.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys learning something new every day, but who can manage the routine work that must be done to keep our law office and our cases running smoothly. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is motivated by a desire to do the highest quality work to make our clients happy.
Above everything else, we are looking for a person who is eager, positive, happy, energetic, attentive to detail, and who has a “can do” solutions-oriented mindset. We place a high premium on finding a conscientious person with the right attitude (as opposed to “an attitude”), not necessarily a person with the best “skills” or “experience” on paper. A background in the legal industry is not a pre-requisite for successfully landing this position!
Who Should Apply for This Job?
The person we hire will have great time management and task management skills. A college degree is preferred, but not necessarily one that directly relates to the legal field. This could be an incredible first paralegal job for someone fresh out of college or a nice change of pace for someone who is tired of being yelled at and stressed out at a different law firm. If you have been a stay-at-home parent and are returning to the work force, this might also be an excellent change of pace. You will not be “overworked” in this position. But you will be intellectually stimulated and “busy” Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This job will require excellence in handling the following sorts of tasks:
• Being the Front Office Face of the Firm.
• Case File Management.
• Client Intake and Communication.
• Scheduling Events and Maintaining the Firm’s Calendar.
• Issuing Bills, Paying Bills, Basic Bookkeeping, and Financial Reporting.
• Maintaining Marketing Databases and Generating Marketing Reports.
What Are the Basic Qualifications?
The person we hire will be self-reliant and able to work independently. The person will ask questions to learn the way we do things but will never make excuses when things go wrong.
The person we hire will be a person who speaks up when something is wrong.
The person we hire will be organized, attentive to details, and the type of person who keeps lists. (If you looked in this person’s closet at home or their kitchen pantry, you would be amazed at how organized they are!)
The person we hire will be a calm person who can keep their cool when others (clients, callers, other lawyers) do not. They are also a kind and empathetic person who can comfort people who are having a bad day.
The person we hire will be very comfortable working on a computer (a PC, not an Apple computer) that runs Windows and the Microsoft Office suite of software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Most importantly, the person we hire will approach every part of this job with an open mind and have a willingness to learn “our way” of doing things.
What Is the Salary?
The salary for the candidate we hire to fill this position will be commensurate with their level of experience.
REQUIREMENT TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION – To apply for this position, you must follow the directions below. Inquiries or responses that do not strictly follow these directions will not be considered at all.
Go to www.mottleylawfirm.com/contact.cfm. At the bottom of the page, you will see a "Get Help Now" form. Please fill out the form with your name, phone number, and email address. Then, in the "Tell us more" field, type the following information: (1) type “I’d love to be your rock star team member” followed by (2) an explanation of why you’re interested in our firm, (3) a description of any experience you have that you think is relevant to what we do, and (4) at least one thing you read in this ad that caught your attention and caused you to think, "hey, I'd be a great member of this team!" After providing this information in the "Tell Us More" field, click "Submit."
If we need any further information, we will follow up with you to request any further information we may need.
All information you provide to us will be received in the strictest of confidence and will be kept confidential.

No matter which route you end up pursuing, always take these six steps after an accident.
1. Gather evidence at the scene of the accident if you aren’t immediately taken to the emergency room. Photograph the scene and the vehicles to preserve critical evidence of what occurred.
2. Contact the police. They can begin their investigation and you can use this information for your claim.
3. Seek medical attention as soon as possible. Starting a paper trail early helps document the extent of your injuries, as well as gauge what medical costs might be required in the future.
4. Contact your insurance company, but be aware of what not to say. Don’t agree to a recorded statement, and avoid discussing your injuries with the adjuster, who may take your words out of context to reduce your payout. Instead, only provide the basic facts of the accident and let your attorney handle any other communication.
5. Gather and keep records. A variety of evidence sources may be needed to prove negligence and show your costs, from police accident reports to medical records, truck driver work logs, and so on.
6. Call an experienced car accident lawyer. No matter the extent of your injuries, always get an attorney’s help after a vehicle collision. Besides helping you avoid insurance tactics to reduce your settlement, an attorney is critical if you need to file a lawsuit against the negligent party.
If you've suffered injuries from a car accident in Virginia, due to a negligent driver, give us a call at (804) 409-0876 or check out our website for more information.
This Friday, January 29, 2021, I will be presenting alongside Amy Griggs, of Regan Zambri Long, PLLC, on the topic of theming our traumatic brain injury cases at the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association Traumatic Brain Injury Retreat at the Westin Hotel in Richmond. If you’re a member of the VTLA and are interested in learning how to theme your TBI case, make sure to register at https://www.vtla.com/?pg=events&evAction=showDetail&eid=88924
If your child has received a concussion from football in Virginia, or as a result of another sport, their mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) could have been the result of someone else’s negligence. In fact, it may be possible that something could have been done differently to prevent their injury.
Although football is a rough sport and it may seem like your child doesn’t have a claim for damages, they just might. A recent example of this is the $700 million dollar settlement of claims by former NFL players who suffered from mild TBIs. While many people questioned these sports-related head injury claims, the injuries were very real. The truth of the matter is that the NFL paid former players millions to resolve these brain injury claims—revealing the validity of these claims. Sometimes people can look normal on the outside but experience trauma on the inside in the form of a mild traumatic brain injury.
If you aren’t sure if your child has a brain injury claim for damages, it is wise to seek the legal advice of an experienced attorney. Contact the Mottley Law Firm in Richmond today for a free case consultation at 804-930-1022 or reach us online.
