Last year near Christmas time, I pursued a case against an employer who had failed to pay several of its workers for two weeks of work. My clients experienced financial hardship last Christmas as a result. Despite admitting the wages were owed, the employer wouldn’t pay. I got a judgment and sent the Constable out to the owners property, never sure the employer could pay. It was so amazing to be able to give those checks to those clients right before Christmas this year. I feel so thankful and blessed that these types of cases are so meaningful to my clients.

For employees in Texas earning $50,000+ who were recently laid off, unemployment will be paying about $800 a week ($300 extra) starting soon in light of the passage of the stimulus package. Employees who receive severances should consult a labor & employment attorney BEFORE signing, because normally a severance will prevent an employee from collecting unemployment, but there are LOOPHOLES. The stakes are high when you have lost your job and every dollar matters. Thousands of dollars are at stake for these employees. Spread the word and don't let the grinch take unemployment you or your friend may be entitled to.
