Now that we have your attention, today is National Voter Registration Day! Are you registered to vote?
🌹 Today marks SIX MONTHS since we switched to WFH life! Sending virtual roses and positive vibes to you all on this momentous milestone. (Feel free to drop your own anniversary gifts in the comments.... unless you forgot.)
We know what you're thinking: what does Red Ventures DO?! It's more than "intent media." Not an "advertising agency." And far from a "call center." Read a closer look at what we do (and how we do it) here, via Digiday.

Did you know, voting — and updating your address so your voter registration is valid — is one of the most impactful ways you can fight systemic injustice on both the local and national scale? Meet Victoria, an editor on our MYMOVE.com team.
"I am the product of a great deal of time and emotional labor of the BIPOC people in my life. I can only take credit for being willing to listen to their truths, and their truth is – among many other things – that the American system is designed to fail them in every way. So, I dedicated myself to figuring out how our democratic system works – and all the ways in which it doesn’t. Voting is half the battle of fixing the system. The other half is understanding. Part of that understanding involves facing hard truths: If we can reckon with the fact that our racist history isn’t as far in the past as we’ve been conditioned to put it, maybe there is hope for our future."
Learn more about the impact of your vote on INSPIRED. And don't forget to visit our friends at VoteAmerica to check your registration status and to register to vote!

In a moment where politics and division feel relentless, and optimism feels scarce, listen to this encouraging conversation with civic leader and Charlotte icon, Harvey Gantt — originally recorded at our last All Employee Meeting, and now available wherever you get podcasts. Growing up in the segregated South, and pioneering civil rights - Harvey’s life experiences and his perspective about racial justice are both a severe reality check, and a beacon of hope. Listen here - and then make a plan to vote!
If you're anticipating a complicated voting process this year, our team at The Points Guy has everything you need to know.

Kelly Oliver, Director of HSP, has been with Red Ventures for over 9 years and has a transgender son (FTM- female to male).
"When Sutton entered High School, my husband and I were prepared for Sutton to tell us that she was a Lesbian. I work closely with someone in the LGBTQIA community and even asked his advice if I should just tell Sutton that we know and we love HER or wait and let HER tell us. We were prepared! Not so fast – we were not prepared when Sutton finally spoke his truth out loud, he felt that he was in the wrong body. It was Sutton’s Junior year in High School, fall 2017, I was traveling for work and got a call from my husband at 8 am pacific time. He could barely talk. He said Sutton is at school in a suicidal comatose state. He is taking HER to the hospital. What? Suicidal? Sutton? The kid with a 4.5 GPA, top in cross country and lacrosse, chosen as a natural leader by HER high school, recipient of multiple character and leadership awards? Sutton? That was the longest 4-hour flight in my entire life.
We got help but therapy is not a pill that fixes something overnight. After two more very close suicide attempts, several hospitalizations, and more therapy, Sutton was finally able to say it out loud – I am not comfortable in my body. The Gender Dysphoria which gives way to Depression and Social Anxiety caused Sutton so much guilt and shame that he thought his life and our lives would be better without him. When Sutton finally told us, I can’t say I didn’t mourn the loss of a daughter, but I also celebrated that I had a son who was alive and finally feeling that his life mattered. He wanted to live."
We are committed to building a work culture where everyone feels they belong. As part of our robust benefits options, Red Ventures is proud to offer new benefits including Gender Transformation. Learn more about our updated benefits on INSPIRED.

"YOU'RE ON MUTE!" We all have embarrassing Zoom moments. Last week, during our company-wide virtual event (REBOOT), we featured a few of our own "Zoom Horror Stories." Watch if you dare!!! 👻
What really happened last summer, behind the scenes with Ric, Howard Schultz, and Nick (our AV pro) at one of our most infamous All-Employee Meetings?? Watch the true Zoom horror story here...
"As I stood at the ballot box this morning, my mind started to wonder. I thought of all the people harassed at the polls. I thought of all of those arrested in the past to make a change. I thought of all the other countries in the world that do not have the level of freedom that exists in the United States. I thought of how if I were born into a past generation, I wouldn't have the right to vote. Yet there I stood, a person of color, a second-generation immigrant, and a woman. With tears streaming down my face, I happily voted. I voted on behalf of my daughter, my ancestors, my country, and myself. More importantly, I voted for all of those before me that fought for my right to do so. With that said, I beg of you. Get up, get out, and go vote!"
THANK YOU to Vickki and to the many RVers across the US who are sharing their voting stories with us, using their voices, and encouraging others to do the same. #VOTE!
REMINDER: Today is a company-wide “No Meeting” day at RV to ensure that US employees have flexibility to vote and/or volunteer at the polls when it works best for them. #VOTE

Meet Laurie! She leads the consumer insights team at Healthline in San Fransisco. “I truly believe that the best way a company can innovate is by listening to the people they are trying to serve. Reflect on your own life — when you really needed information, guidance, and reassurance — and the person, website, or social media post just didn’t get you. That’s a horrible feeling. We’re in a time when we are reaching out and needing to be heard. We have the mission to not only provide people with most accurate and high-quality information, but also the most inclusive information.” Watch to learn how Laurie is leaning into WFH life, coping with the wildfires, and connecting with her team.

"Most people will have learned that active listening is the top tier of engagement in the listening skills hierarchy. Active listening says one should engage attentively, make eye contact, ask follow up questions, recite back for understanding, clarify, and summarize. It all sounds good, but how does the conversation take form in the first place? How does one ever get the chance to listen to a close friend about their experience as a black person in a mostly white work environment? What does the only woman on a senior team feel when more men are added to the group? Before you can actively listen, you must invite the opportunity." Joe Marone, VP of Global Operations shares with us how to "invite listening" into the workplace (and in life). Click to read more!

This week, let's all take a few extra minutes to prime ourselves for positivity. Neil Pasricha, The New York Times bestselling author and friend of RV, brought a BURST of energy to our All Employee Meeting last Friday. Thanks, Neil, for this much need reminder.
Meet Shaan! He started as a business operations analyst at Red Ventures, shifted careers to become a data engineer (still at RV), and is now the senior analyst on our Diversity and Inclusion team. And just last week, Shaan organized a company-wide celebration of #Diwali, supporting our Hindu community. 🎉
How does he navigate these major career shifts? "I look for a need, and where I'm uniquely positioned to fill in gaps." Watch to hear Shaan's story and how he's playing a key role in RV's diversity and inclusion journey.

There's no standard rule for navigating a successful and fulfilling career. Sometimes it's about diving deep into expertise. Sometimes it's about exploring options. But in all cases, it's all about personal growth. RV is full of talented people who have driven their own unique career paths. Meet Khalan Boyer, since joining RV, she has taken what she's learned from her time at NBC and the Peace Corps and brings a balanced perspective between the corporate and nonprofit worlds. Mornings matter. Small routines can reinforce a positive mindset. In CEO Ric Elias's new episode of the 3 Things podcast today, Neil Pasricha teaches us that if nothing else, you can always start with “2 minute mornings” - think about what you’re letting go of, what you’re grateful for, and what you’re focusing on each day. Listen to the full conversation wherever you get your podcasts, or right here: https://blog.redventures.com/3-things-neil-pasricha/
In this year of uncertainty, our Golden Door Scholars have been a shining light. Although this year of virtual learning has been challenging in many ways, our scholars have continued to demonstrate how resilient and motivated they are. GDS lights the way for undocumented students to invest in their education and achieve their career goals, beyond what they might imagine. Founded in 2013 by CEO Ric Elias, the Golden Door scholarship has impacted nearly 500 young adults and hundreds of Red Ventures employees who provide mentorship and guidance as students pursue their dream careers. Just how remarkable are these students? Last week, one GDS alum made history as the first Latino #DACA recipient EVER to win the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship! Is there a difference between "values" and "beliefs?" At our core, we believe that beliefs give people the opportunity to "opt-in," and to take ownership of their success at Red Ventures. They're not what we do; they're who we are.
How do you transition from a Sales Professional to an Associate Product Designer? Meet Silver! How are you building healthy habits despite adversity? "I've been going on long walks in my neighborhood listening to podcasts and admiring all the pretty houses. I might not be able to travel, but it injects a little novelty into my routine and makes me feel almost like I'm roaming some of my favorite cities to wander around in, like San Francisco or Hong Kong or Portland, Oregon." HEALTHY COMPETITION. Our ongoing movement challenge is all about encouraging RVers to build healthy habits, reaching an average movement goal for 21 days. So far we've seen an uptick in walking (@zoom) meetings, awesome attendance for our virtual companywide workouts, and many RVers adding more "mindful minutes" into their day. (Yes - that counts!) As @amandascgorman reminded us last week, "there is always a better version of ourselves worth working for." How are you reaching your movement goal today?
This #BlackHistoryMonth, we're celebrating teammates from RV's Black community who are making significant impacts in our company and our communities.
First up, meet Nigel - an Account Director who has been with our Allconnect team for TWELVE years! 🏆 According to his teammates, Nigel is an ultimate team player, a proud #GirlDad, and he may or may not be a secret karaoke star. (He definitely is.) In his words:
"Black History Month is a time to celebrate the multitude of Black heroes that overcame unbelievable odds and did so much more with very little. For me, this month is also a reminder that it's not enough for me to have a successful career, raise a fruitful family and live a good life. I’m reinvigorated to do more for those I don’t know, those who may not have what I have and need help. I’m inspired to lend a helping hand, encourage, or simply serve others."

Meet Lakisha — Senior Sales Recruiter here at RV! She has been part of the team for 11 1/2 YEARS, with 10 1/2 of those being in Sales Leadership. Lakisha played a key role in shaping our sales team culture to what it is today AND is a mentor for our Road to Hire [TAG] program. Outside of work, she’s a pet lover and wine connoisseur. As we continue to celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth, you could say that Lakisha is an an ICON at RV, and a top example of what it means to 'leave the woodpile higher than you found it.'

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE! Over the last month, Road to Hire students have undergone mock behavioral interviews with their mentors (RVers), preparing for their formal interviews with our partners — Bank of America, Novant Health, Lowe's Home Improvement, NASCAR, Duke Energy, Truist, Wells Fargo, and Ally. As the current Coding Apprenticeship is winding down, applications for the new Cyber Security Apprenticeship just opened! Check out our story on Instagram to learn more about Road to Hire and the new apprenticeship!
Meet Andy, a Road to Hire Pathways graduate and West Mecklenburg High School alum who is turning her dream into a reality. "This spring, I am excited to kick start my dream career in pediatric nursing by participating in the Atrium Rise to Success program while obtaining my bachelor's degree."
Road to Hire is a 501(c)(3) supported by RV that helps underrepresented students in #CLT gain entry to meaningful careers after high school. For some, that starts with college. For others, that means joining a paid apprenticeship that puts them on the path to a successful career. Lonely Planet’s new Editor-at-Large: Sebastian Modak
It's been almost a year since we started working from home. Conversations by the water cooler and running into someone in the hallway is no longer part of every day work life. But, what is it like being a travel editor while WFH? Meet Alex, a lead editor on our Lonely Planet team. Although he's no longer paddle boarding in Alaska, he's finding ways to stay connected to the destinations he loves and misses by learning to cook with his wife (making pasta from scratch isn't as easy as it looks). We asked him what his favorite part about his job is...
"My first experiences with Lonely Planet were as a backpacker in China. I spent a few years teaching English there, and I used the guides to explore the country and other trips around Asia.
I can still remember sitting in dingy hostels, dog-earing pages and circling the restaurants and sites I wanted to visit, marveling about the kind of job it must’ve been to visit every place and write about it. It’s a daily pleasure to contribute to that kind of authority and expertise. And to be a part of a company with a heritage like Lonely Planet. I’m also hugely lucky to work with a team of passionate, smart and funny people. I love seeing my colleagues go all-in on projects like our incredibly thorough Holiday gift guides from last year, masterful book roundups, or monthly Instagram Live interviews with makers and shakers in travel."
How do you invest in your professional development while working full time, mentoring others, and being a mom of two (soon to be three)? Ask Latori Miller! She's a Road to Hire Technical Instructor and is currently going through our Internal Training Academy - a rigorous training program that helps RVers transition career paths internally.
When we asked her about a moment when Black History influenced her career and life, she said, "Most recently, seeing Kamala Harris elected as Vice President. As a fellow Howard graduate, it has imparted so much pride and heightened what I deem possible. All of us have an ability to make an impact in the areas in which we choose to focus."
Dance, skip, swim, cycle, meditate, wiggle, jump, flex, squat, flip - we've spent the last month tracking every daily movement in order to build healthy habits. Specifically, 1,500 RVers from around the globe were focused on reaching and maintaining an average of 70 "movement points" per day, for 21 days in a row. 800+ of us went above and beyond that goal, and a few even took home some awesome prizes (hello Peloton!) from our virtual grand finale. Can we keep the healthy habits going??
Meet Aaron, a Data Scientist on our Financial Services team who started his career at RV as an engineer, but had an interest in machine learning and artificial intelligence. When he saw the opportunity to be part of the Data Science Accelerator — a training program that helps RVers transition to a data science career path internally — he jumped on it! When he’s not sciencing the data, he’s running. Literally. This year, his goal is to run 1,000 miles AND complete a marathon! When we asked him about a moment in Black History that influenced him, he said, “The election of President Obama in 2008. I remember sitting in silence with my sophomore year roommate watching his acceptance speech. I was absolutely captivated, inspired, and in awe. Of course, my parents had always given me the ‘you can do anything’ speech, but it wasn’t really until that moment that I really internalized it.”
Topics covered at our All Employee Meeting last week: RV's Top 10, keyboard solos, and a conversation with Thai Lee, CEO of the largest woman-owned company in the US - SHI International Corp. Watch to see it all unfold!

Starting a new role always involves some uncertainty and discomfort - ESPECIALLY in a virtual environment. Advice from RV Recruiters? "Give yourself some grace! You don't have to meet every new teammate or learn every new system all at once. Take the necessary time to get your bearings in a new role, so when you do dive in, you'll make a bigger impact, faster." Looking for advice to land that new role? Click here:

This Women's History Month, we're celebrating the women at RV who are making a big impact on RV and in our communities. First up, meet Jada and Yemi. For two years in a row, they've organized and led our company-wide Black History Month "Uplift Panel," leading important conversations around blazing new trails and empowering ourselves - and others - to succeed. Watch as they share with us how it all started!
As we continue to look back at the last year of WFH, our Road to Hire team stands out. At the beginning of 2020, they started their largest Coding apprenticeship EVER. Although the switch to a completely virtual program wasn't easy, they proved that nothing is impossible. Those students are now working at companies like Lowe's Careers, Bank of America, Novant Health, Atrium Health, and Red Ventures. 50 more students are about to graduate next week AND they are launching their first-ever Cyber Security apprenticeship in April. The lesson we learned? Barriers are temporary.
This week marks one full year of WFH for our team - 365 days that have been unlike anything we've ever experienced before. One of the early lessons everyone learned in the pivot to WFH? A temporary setup just wasn't going to cut it. Check out how it started how ➡️ it's going, via a few magical WFH office transformations from our team!
Exactly one year ago we all were experiencing our last "normal," in-office, week - and we had no idea. It's been a journey unlike any other. Even though no two people are having the same experience, our communities are continuing to come together in remarkable ways. Stay tuned this week as we take a look back at the laughs we had and the lessons we're learning. First lesson everyone learned in the pivot to WFH? Security at home...
"I often wonder if we, as a people, truly know the power of a woman and what she brings to the world. There’s an innate gift of integrity, heart, strength, willingness, and boldness that comes from women. In us, there is refuge. I’m not ashamed of my nurturing spirit, and in that, there’s strength (if it were absent from business, there’d be nothing but chaos). My words have the ability to comfort and empower, and that’s needed, even in the workplace. Women are necessary. We’ve laid the foundations for teamwork and collaboration."
We couldn't agree more. In honor of #InternationalWomensDay we're celebrating powerful RV women all month long. Get to know the author of these words, RV Digital Designer Natalie Brown, on the INSPIRED blog today - and tag a woman who inspires you in the comments below!

How are you empowering the women in your community? Meet Flora, a Data Scientist on our Healthline team. Two weeks ago, she presented on Natural Language Processing at the Women in Data Science Charlotte Conference — a conference that aims to inspire, educate, and engage current and future data scientists and supports women in the field by providing training, networking, and mentoring opportunities. When she's not in the community empowering other women, she's busy playing with her 3-year old daughter, teaching her all her favorite activities (including golf).
"When I saw that 50% of our visitors were women – but none of our content addressed financial hurdles specifically faced by that demographic – I knew we could do something about it." Meet Adriana, an editor on our CreditCards.com team and the social media lead for CreditCards.com, Bankrate.com, and To Her Credit — a blog she started to help women navigate their financial journeys. Read more of Adriana's story and how To Her Credit was born on INSPIRED.
