Summer home in Cornfield Point area in Old Saybrook. Just completed major makeover of an attached outdoor shower and hot water heater storage area. Complete tear down to include the concrete slab. A few hurdles to overcome in obtaining building permits but can’t deny the final results. A few before, during construction and finished product photos below.

Homeowners in Old Lyme decided their back deck and walkway were in need of an update. Structure was still in good shape as were the pressure treated railings. Decided on replacing the deck boards and top rail. A few pics of the completed results.

Homeowner in Old Saybrook lost approximately 20 linear feet of aluminum fascia during a recent wind storm. Was receiving quotes in the $1,500–$2,000 range from siding contractors. For roughly 1/3 of that I was able to rent a aluminum siding brake, fabricate the fascia in house and install it.
A relatively simple repair was compounded by the location of power lines. A call to the utility company to temporarily disconnect the power was required to ensure safety.

Here are a few before, during and after photos of a deck I just completed in Old Saybrook. What originally was just a new railing system and replacing pressure treated decking as needed grew into a complete deck refurbishment. Weather and a couple of scheduling conflicts delayed the project a couple of weeks but the results speak for themselves.
After removing a few deck boards I discovered that the ledger board was pulling away from the house as it was improperly connected with nothing but nails. Several joist hangers were also never installed. Secured ledger to house with ledger lock structural screws and sleeve anchors. Installed joist hangers as needed as well as lateral anchors to new railing posts.
Azek “Harvest” decking in Coastal Grey was selected by homeowner and it was secured to joists with Tiger Claw” hidden deck fasteners. Trex Essentials railing was then installed and deck perimeter trimmed in PVC lattice and Azek trim boards.

Before and after pics of a ship lap “feature wall” I just completed in Northford. Before photo was taken roughly a year ago when home was listed for sale. New owners changed the paint color but wanted to add more character to the space.
3/4” ship lap necessitated re-casing the window (new window stool and apron as well) to accommodate for the added wall depth.
Electrician will be coming in to install new wall sconces next week. Will post more photos of the finished space shortly.
