PHOENIX SENIOR LIVING CERTIFIED AS A GREAT PLACE TO WORK FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR | Phoenix Senior Living
We recently celebrated a special resident of ours, Marsha. Everyone who knows her would agree that she knows how to light up a room and make you smile! Our community is lucky to have you, Marsha! Here’s to a wonderful year ahead 🎉
Happy Grandparents Day! If a family is a tree, grandparents would be the roots. They sacrifice for us, offer their wisdom, and love like no one else. At The Retreat at Buford, we are honored to have your grandparents here with us and celebrate them everyday! Here are a few notes from them to you!
Happy Grandparents Day!
Here’s a look at our garden over the Summer! So far we’ve harvested tomatoes, rosemary, peppermint, and green onions, with more on the way! We’ve all enjoyed being outside and getting our hands a little dirty! Many of our residents have told us stories about working in their parents' gardens as a child, and then having their own garden in adulthood. It brings back so many fond memories and has been fun to reminisce.
“To plant a garden is to believe in the future.” - Audrey Hepburn
Happy National Red Wine Day from The Retreat at Buford! We love happy hour with our residents; it’s a great time to socialize and share stories with friends. (And grape juice is always fun too!)
Have you heard the great news? #safehugwindow
Fall is here and we are feeling festive! We kicked off the month of October by painting pumpkins together and enjoying the beautiful weather outside!
If you have a family member or a friend with dementia, please take a moment to read this. And share it if you wish...
Miss Maple Bacon is back again! Thank you to our friends at Victory Church for allowing our residents to spend a little time with Maple. Studies show that petting a dog increases the brains production of oxytocin which increases feelings of relaxation and reduces stress! It’s hard not to smile when Maple is around. We can’t wait to see her again!
Today, we would like to spotlight our resident, Mrs. Mildred, or as she prefers to be called, Mrs. Cookie! If you know Cookie then you know she loves her coffee and hair salon days! She’s a true classy southern woman with great style. We love our Cookie here at The Retreat and are blessed to have her around!
Register for our online estate planning seminar on Thursday November 5! This is a free event!
RSVP to krystina.martino@phoenixsrliving.com.
Have you ever tried a Pumpkin Spice Latte? We found out a good portion of our residents had not, so we made our own! We used some cold brew coffee, pumpkin purée, pumpkin pie spice, whole milk, and sweetened condensed milk! It was surprisingly easy and fun to make!

Congratulations to our Employees of the Month from the past few months! These three treat everyone like family while providing compassionate care for each of our residents. We are grateful to have them on our team!
Happy Thanksgiving! At The Retreat of Buford, we’ve been celebrating for the past week! We made our own apple cider, had some live music outside, and have been discussing what we are thankful for. This year has not been easy, but each resident we talked to told us about how blessed they feel. We are so thankful to have a wonderful group of people who take nothing for granted and count their blessings each day! They are such an inspiration for us and the reason we do what we do!

We are extremely excited to announce Kayla as our new Program and Outreach Director! It has been a blessing to have her serve as our Interim Program and Outreach Director, and she has more than earned the permanent role! Congrats from all of us!
We are honored to be able to celebrate our resident veterans last week when we unveiled our Veterans Wall! We also put together some gift bags and enjoyed hot chocolate with all the toppings you can think of! Thank you again for your sacrifice to keep our country safe!
A big thank you to Help for Healthcare Professionals, Inc. for providing lunch for our team today! It means a lot to our associates to be recognized for their hard work during these times!
We are another step closer to #kickingcovid! Thank you CVS for administering our second vaccine clinic! 💙 Both CVS teams we have worked with have been so kind and understanding to all the different needs of our residents. They have made everyone feel safe and took the time to answer any questions we have had! We are excited to hopefully be headed towards a healthy spring! 🙏🏻 #stickwithus #pslstrong
Thank you Capstone Hospice for catering our lunch yesterday! 💙 We are honored to be your Top Partner in 2020 and appreciate your services in 2021. Thank you for helping us enhance our residents lives!
We had one of our favorite furry friends stop by, Bear the German Shepherd! He is our Activities Director’s pup and loves to socialize! Some of the residents describe him as a “gentle giant” and we think that’s a fitting description!
We would like to honor our Program and Outreach Director, Kayla Lorentz, for Activity Professionals Week! Kayla has been with Phoenix Senior Living since February 2020. She became our Program and Outreach Director after being an Activities Assistant and realizing enriching the lives of our residents was something she was very passionate about. With a degree in psychology, she was looking for a career where she could work closely with people while making a positive difference in their lives. Our residents appreciate her encouraging attitude and patience. Kayla says, “My favorite part of my job is talking one-on-one with the residents and getting to know them personally. They have the best advice, experience, and stories!”
PSL Program & Outreach Directors are Golden!
