With both Mardi Gras and Valentine's Day on the horizon, allow us to help you celebrate at home with one of our timeless classics - The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans beignets.
Our beignets are, well...you know. Make these at home for a nostalgic Mardi Gras treat, or as a fun Valentine's Day activity with loved ones. Either way, these pillowy classics are sure to delight.
Ingredients:
- 2.5 pounds flour
- .75 ounces salt
- .75 ounces yeast
- 6 ounces granulated sugar
- 4 ounces canola oil
- 1lb water
- 8 ounces egg yolks
Directions:
Mix bread flour, salt, yeast and sugar in large mixer. Add oil, water and yolks and knead for 10 minutes. Place plastic wrap over bowl and let double in size. Punch down dough and roll until about ¼ inch thick. Cut dough into squares and let proof for about 30 minutes. Fry and toss with a generous amount of powder sugar. Sit back, relax and enjoy with aa New Orleans café au lait or hot chocolate.
