Our debris management contractors have taken on a monumental task. While there is still much work to be done, they have been hard at work since Hurricane Laura’s landfall.
From pushing of the debris from the roadways in the early post-storm days to their pick up efforts, we appreciate their hard work across the entire City.
For perspective, by the end of last week, crews had picked up more debris in the City of Lake Charles alone than in all of Calcasieu Parish following Hurricane Rita!
Crews are making their way throughout the City to collect residential debris and we ask for your continued patience. They will make multiple passes to remove all debris.
Please continue to separate items. Vegetative debris should be separated from construction debris. White goods should also be separated and secured shut. Finally, bagged household waste should be placed in your City of Lake Charles garbage receptacle for emptying on your regurlarly scheduled collection day.

Although this is nowhere near a complete list, we have compiled the following list of relief resources available. This list is subject to change and was current as of 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2.
It includes information on sites being organized by a number of nonprofit and faith-based groups, including United Way of Southwest Louisiana, The Salvation Army USA, American Red Cross and National Guard.

Update on Hurricane Delta and details about evacuation options
We shut down today at noon so that our staff can take care of their homes and families prior to the rain projected to start on Thursday. We plan on reopening on Monday, October 19.

Hurricane watches are now in effect for most all of Southwest Louisiana. Use today to fuel up and be ready to have your final preparations completed by tomorrow night. Landfall possibly as early as midday Friday most likely along the eastern part of Cameron Parish as either a cat 2 or cat 3 hurricane.
