The owner and “Pit Master” of the Smoke‘N Pig BBQ. He founded the company in April of 2016 and began operations in May, 2016. Gabe brings 15 years of experience in the food industry to The Smoke’ N Pig BBQ and perfected his cooking and catering service while working at two of Lansing and East Lansing’s favorite restaurants.
Gabe has always had a desire to own his own business, so in the spring of 2016, he decided to follow his dream and with the love and support of family and friends, The Smoke’ N Pig BBQ was born. Gabe has spent the last two years perfecting his secret BBQ rub which sets his ribs, rib tips and pulled pork apart from other BBQ establishments in the Lansing and surrounding area. It was proven this past summer at the 2016 Brighton Smokin Jazz and BBQ Blues Festival, where he took 1st place for best Ribs. This was Gabe’s first rib competition.
The business started with one Weber Smoker, a couple tables and tents along with some food warmers. After two days, it was very apparent this was the beginning of something he could have only dreamed of. He immediately invested in two more smokers to handle the volume of customers. Six weeks later he purchased a 24 ft. food trailer and was off and running.
