Happy Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month! What does ultrasound have to do with varicose veins in the legs? We use Doppler and Color Ultrasound to help diagnose Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI). This means that the valves in the veins are not working or closing properly so the blood flows down your legs into branch veins, or varicose veins, making them bigger than normal. We couldn't do it without our ultrasound! Call us for your free screening with ultrasound to see if you have CVI causing your varicose veins.
Winter is the best time for treating spider veins. Even though it may be difficult to pronounce, Sclerotherapy is the treatment of choice for most spider veins. It is an injection of solution into the spider veins. Most solutions are a dilution of Polidocanol 3% with Sodium Chloride 0.9%.
