The Tennessee Comptroller’s Office has completed a review of elder financial exploitation in Tennessee.
Research by the Comptroller’s Office of Research and Education Accountability (OREA) found that
1. Tennessee’s approach to protect elderly adults from financial exploitation is made up of a patchwork of state and local entities; &
2. The effectiveness of Tennessee’s patchwork approach, however, is unknown due to data limitations.

Through a partnership with the State of Tennessee’s Vocational Rehabilitation Department, The STAR Center will be providing assistive technology services to the 41 counties in the Middle Tennessee area.
53.8 million (27%) adults under 65 have at least one pre-existing condition that would have rendered them ineligible for individual insurance prior to the Affordable Care Act, with higher rates among women than men.

Life-changing news: CMS has (finally) approved the Katie Beckett Program for Tennessee children with significant disabilities. Starting Nov 23rd, 2020 families will be able to complete a self-referral form on the TennCare Connect website to get the ball rolling for their child.
This has been a long time coming and a team effort. TN families led the way. Thank you to Katie Beckett Families who demanded better from our state. Thank you to our TN General Assembly, Sponsors Senator Kerry Roberts and Representative Sam Whitson for working to pass this law.
