βοΈ0-2 years: before your child learns to spit, it is safe to use a smear or rice size amount of fluoride toothpaste. Per the AAP and AAPD, it is recommended to start once the first tooth erupts.
βοΈ2-3 years: start practicing spitting
βοΈ3-6 years: once fully learned spitting it is time to transition to pea size amount of toothpaste!
