Dr. L. Sean Thompson is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon providing skilled, compassionate care for patients throughout the New York City and New Jersey metropolitan region. At his state-of-the-art practices in Jamaica Estates, Manhattan and Union, NJ, Dr. Thompson offers experienced care for an array of conditions, including joint replacement, hip, knee and shoulder surgery, anterior hip replacement, and orthopaedic trauma surgery.
With subspecialties in joint replacement and sports medicine, Dr. Thompson is committed to providing patient-centered, evidence-based care using precise techniques and advanced technology, including navigation surgery, minimally-invasive surgical techniques, and robot-assisted surgery.
Dr. Thompson provides individualized, comprehensive patient care using the highest standards of professionalism and ethics with both preoperative and postoperative rehabilitation services offered on site for greater patient convenience and optimal results. In addition, Dr. Thompson is dedicated to ensuring each patient receives the time, attention and education about their care options so they feel confident throughout every phase of their treatment.
After completing his degree at UCLA, Dr. Thompson completed his residency at SUNY Stony Brook, followed by a fellowship in adult joint reconstruction at NYU School of Medicine Hospital for Joint Diseases, where he also served as an assistant professor.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Thompson enjoys participating in youth mentoring activities, volunteering his medical services in under-served communities, playing golf and cross-training, and playing the saxophone, as well as spending time with his wife and children. He also has a passion for exotic cars.
Dr. Thompson welcomes new patients at his practices in Manhattan, Jamaica Estates, NY, and Union, NJ. He speaks English and Spanish, and the practice accepts most major medical insurance plans.
