On Sunday September 27, 2020, Officers from Waupaca Police Department were dispatched for a subject who got stuck in a swampy area attempting to rescue two dogs. The subject was able to get out of the muck, but the two dogs were still stuck on the other side of the swamp and river. Knowing that he would have the equipment needed and lived relatively close, Officer Van Dinter contacted Officer Zube at home. Officer Zube responded to the scene with waders, a catch pole, and a duck skiff. Officer Zube was able to cross the swamp and the river and recover the dogs from the other side. Officer Van Dinter cleaned the dogs up and transported them to Waupaca County Humane Society. The owners of the dogs have been located and they have been returned home safe. Waupaca Police Department was further assisted by Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office on the scene.
