Timothy Chang received his bachelor's degree from Stanford University, an M.D. and Ph.D from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He completed residency in Neurology and fellowship training in Movement Disorders at UCLA. During his fellowship training, Dr. Chang completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in genetics before being appointed Assistant Professor of Neurology at UCLA.
His clinical expertise focuses on general movement disorders including Parkinson's disease, and atypical Parkinsonian disorders including Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Corticobasal Syndrome, Multiple System Atrophy, and Lewy Body Dementia. His clinical focus also includes genetic movement disorders and dystonia.
Dr. Chang's research laboratory uses computational approaches to identify genes that may increase the risk of neurodegenerative diseases and factors that may affect disease course. He is actively involved in clinical trials for movement disorder patients at UCLA.
