This week we are focusing on Allstate in the 1940s. This decade covers a large portion of World War 2 and it had a huge impact on our country and how we conducted business.
Allstate trained women to replace men on military leave to cover roles such as agents and claims. In an effort to be more transparent with policies, after the war, Allstate created the "Illustrator Policy" as a tool to better explain insurance policies. Allstate finished the decade with 45.3 million in premium, over 700,000 policy holders and nearly 3,000 employees.

For the last auto insurance question of this series we will move on to Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage. It is used when the at-fault driver doesn't have enough liability coverage, or they leave before giving you any of their information.
Normally if the other driver was at fault you would file a claim with this insurance provider, Uninsured Motorist Coverage will cover the loss up to the limits agreed upon in your insurance policy. Uninsured motorist covers your property, but Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury Coverage is coverage for you and the passengers in your car should the other driver not have enough insurance to cover the bills. Allstate began the decade with a huge plan that is still in effect today. The good driver discount was introduced to help good drivers save their money. Later in the decade Allstate grew to the point it was fully established in Canada as Allstate Insurance Company of Canada. This was followed by Allstate moving their home office to Northbrook, Illinois. They ended the decade by offering a Business Umbrella package for commercial business insurance.

This week we will be going into more detail on the Dwelling Deductible for a home owners policy. As with auto insurance, a deductible is an agreed upon value that must be paid first to receive the insurance claim payment.
As we have discussed in the past, higher deductibles will decrease your premium. Dwelling deductibles start at $1000 and increase by $500. If looking to lower your home premium consider increasing your deductibles.

We continue moving into more modern history with events we may actually remember. This week we will be focusing on Allstate during the 1980s.
In 1982, Allstate joined the Sears Financial Network: a one-stop financial services network. The goal being consumers could go one place for all of their financial needs including insurance and realty.
The following year Allstate increased their claims department to be the largest claim system staff in the industry. Allstate followed this up with the Neighborhood Office Agent, putting agents in easy to access store fronts.

They followed this up with the launch of their official website the following year. Allstate started the decade, with 2 significant events in 2000. Allstate rolled out its initial wave of the Good Hands Network in Oregon, and Allstate rebranded Allstate Life to Allstate Financial.
Allstate followed this with $1 million Emergency Response Fund to help communities affected by natural disasters. In 2006, Allstate had its 75 anniversary, then followed it up the next year with Allstate Green. it was a program created to fund reforestation and clean energy.

Nathan Marcus started a new tradition at his local minor league baseball team, the Birmingham Barons. Instead of the 7th inning stretch, the Barons fans are now doing the 7th inning wave. The Children's Hospital is in the backdrop of the baseball park, with this in mind the 7th inning wave is now directed towards the children. Every 7th inning, the fans turn on their phone flash lights and wave at the children, they usually receive a large response from the hospital with many of the lights in the hospital flashing in response.
