The idea for True Tile SC was born from a brain trust of a father and son, Clay and Bob Kelley, over a long period of time. Clay has 23 years of experience in flooring and tile installation. Bob has 28 years of experience in residential construction and service. A total of 51 years of knowledge and experience was combined and focused like a laser toward developing a superior bathroom, kitchen and hard surface remodeling company. We are very aware of the good and the bad tile and stone installations that home owners experience. Over the years, we have made mistakes ourselves. We have learned and improved with every one of those errors. That is the reason that years of experience helps any company’s performance.
Let’s start with our client’s selection of materials they wish to use and where they wish to have them installed. The choices are numerous and include many different types of materials. Depending on where it is to be installed, some choices may be better than others. While it comes down to personal preference, a lot of home work is in order. There are a lot of flooring venders that can provide help and guidance. Let’s use a bathroom as an example. We could use stone including marble, granite, slate, sandstone, limestone and travertine stone. Tile also offers different varieties including ceramic and porcelain. The list of materials is not exhaustive but will give you a starting point. We have experience with all of the materials and provide a very professional installation.
Today’s variety of materials and dimensions of those materials bring new challenges for tile and stone setters. State of the art tools and highly skilled installers must be used. As an example, a tile exceeding 12” should have a substrate or floor surface that is very level. The substrate should not have any deviation that exceeds 1/8” within 10 feet. Less than 12” tile should have a substrate with no greater deviation than 1/4”. True Tile SC uses the latest laser measuring machines to measure floor substrate. Any time the measurements are not within limits we use the appropriate method to bring high and low areas into proper level. When proper professional leveling systems are not employed, the end result shows many faults and is generally not acceptable in residential construction.
