Do NOT touch these plants! Giant hogweed (top) and wild parsnip are invasive plants that can cause a multitude of human health impacts. Their sap, in combination with moisture and sunlight, can cause severe skin and eye irritation, painful blistering, permanent scarring and blindness.
For more information on giant hogweed, visit https://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/39809.html
For information on wild parsnip, visit https://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/105364.html
If you find giant hogweed, send photos to ghogweed@dec.ny.gov or call (845) 256-3111.

[Posted 5:50 AM Sun 01/31/21]: A strong winter storm system will affect our area in two rounds beginning later today, as light to moderate snow spreads across Pennsylvania and into the Southern Tier of NY. Heavier snow will move into NE PA on Monday and spread northwest into parts of New York through Tuesday. The NW progress of the heavier snow band is still a little uncertain, but the heaviest snow looks to affect NE PA. This graphic shows the combined total from both "rounds".
It's a complicated scenario, and various Watches, Advisories, and Warnings are in effect. For more details, see our Event Briefing at:

Here is the latest on our snowfall forecast for the winter storm set to impact our area Wednesday through Thursday. For the Twin Tiers and Finger Lakes, there is still quite a bit of uncertainty as a slight shift in track could cause significant differences in snowfall totals.
