Do you know what the pH of your lawn is?.....Well you should.
Soil pH is especially important because it enables a plant’s ability for nutrient uptake. If all of the nutrients a plant needs are available and the pH is off, it can’t pick up those essential ions.
We know N-P-K fertilizer contains excellent nutrients for your lawn, but lime contains some essential elements for growth, too. Not only does it raise pH, but lime provides calcium and magnesium.
In order of importance, here are the essential concentrated nutrients plants need:
Nitrogen N
Potassium (K)
Calcium (Ca)
Magnesium (Mg) & Phosphorus (P)
As you can see, calcium ranks 3rd in importance, while magnesium is just as important as phosphorus. By applying lime, you’re also applying these additional “fertilizers” to your turfgrass.

If you've ever seen a cross-section of soil and grass roots, you've seen the layer of organic debris known as thatch. A mix of dead and living plant material, thatch forms at the base of grass plants, where stems meet roots and soil. Some organic matter, such as small grass clippings or mulched leaves, break down quickly in healthy lawns, but other materials take much longer to decompose. When buildup outpaces breakdown, your lawn's thatch layer grows thicker. Enter Detchatching........

An ecosystem is composed of a community that includes living organisms (plants, animals and microbes) and the nonliving components of their environment (air, water, mineral soil). All of these interact with one another creating a balanced system.
An ecosystem pond uses the bubbles from the flowing water as oxygen, fish waste is filtered by the beneficial bacteria, and plants use the waste excreted from the bacteria as fertilizer. It takes the perfect balance of fish, plants, and proper flow to make your pond thrive throughout the year.
The pond experts at Tynic would be happy to answer any questions you may have about bringing an ecosystem pond to your yard. 413-569-9633
A Pondless Waterfall is a beautiful and sought-after landscape water feature. Simply put, it’s a waterfall without a pond. Waterfalls are extremely low maintenance, energy-efficient, and can be customized for almost any space. Whether you install one in the front or backyard, you’ll enjoy its soothing sights and sounds.
Spring is getting closer and closer. Who needs a front of house upgrade this spring?
This front entry design is quite the upgrade from what was there before. We removed old timbers and some of the oldest pavers known to exist. Our 5-year craftsmanship warranty and Techo-Bloc lifetime warranty on all pavers, ensures this will still be here for many years to come.
It is not too early to start talking about fall seeding. We only have one month to get seed down which is in September. Once you get into October, the germination rate goes down as the nights get too cold. The best success comes in the first three weeks of September. If you wait until July to give us a call, then you've waited too long. Give us a call and we'd be happy to answer any questions you may have. 413-569-9633
