If you’re looking for a project to do at home, we suggest taking some time to dust and clean your game consoles. Dust and hair buildup in your console can lead to overheating and while that’s a quick and easy fix, nobody wants to deal with a broken console right now.

uBreakiFix Essential Services and Social Distancing/Preventative Practices
Introduction
Many state and local governmental entities have been issuing stay home orders requiring non-essential businesses to cease all in-person operations. Based on guidance and authority from various governmental entities, it has been deemed that the repair services provided at our stores
and remote tech mobile unit operations classify us as critical and essential businesses that must continue to operate during stay home orders issued by any governmental entity. The following explains why uBreakiFix’s services constitute essential services. It also describes the social distancing and
enhanced preventative measures that have been implemented in our locations to keep our employees and customers safe.
Why uBreakiFix Services Are Essential
● For nearly 60% of households, a mobile phone is their only form of communication; they do not have landlines.
● The ability to stay connected with family, friends, loved ones, and, if needed, health care providers and emergency services, is critically important.
● The ability to promptly repair mobile phones, as well as computers, printers, scanners, routers, and other office equipment is especially important as almost all businesses are requiring non-service worker employees to work from home during this crisis.
● uBreakiFix is the authorized repair provider for Google, Samsung, HP, as well as major U.S. mobile carriers and its parent company, Asurion, the leading provider of technology protection services. Those customers rely on uBreakiFix to take care of their electronic device repair needs.
Government Guidance Confirms uBreakiFix’s Services Are Essential
● President Trump’s Coronavirus Guidelines for America specify that critical infrastructure activity, like communications and technology, must continue operating during the pandemic.
● The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued guidance to state and local governments that confirms the services uBreakiFix provides—i.e., support of Communications and Information Technology—are included in the definition of critical infrastructure activities. Specifically, DHS expressly identifies “repair technicians that establish, support or repair service. (See CISA Memorandum dated March 19, 2020 on Identification of Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers During COVID-19 Response)
● Stay home orders issued in states like California, Connecticut and New York exclude critical infrastructure activities as defined in the DHS guidance.
● Several other states’ stay home orders designate household repair activities and telecommunications support as essential activities.
● The State of Illinois’s stay home order defines essential businesses to include businesses who provide services on or for video and telecommunications systems, which is broadly construed to include the repair of mobile phones, computers, printers, scanners, routers, and other telecommunications equipment.
● While the State of New Jersey’s stay home order does not expressly state that cell phone and other electronic device repair services are essential businesses that can continue in-person operations at store locations, it does permit repair workers to be physically present at their work sites. As a result, remote tech service in New Jersey can continue while we seek clarification regarding store locations.
What Our Stores Are Doing to Keep their Employees and Customers Safe
Whether a stay home order has been issued or not, uBreakiFix’s corporate store locations have altered their business practices to, among other things, ensure that social distancing and other enhanced safety protocols are followed. Our altered business practices include:
● Implementation of public health guidelines for store locations and remote tech mobile unit operations outlining enhanced safety and sanitation measures.
● Locking the front doors of all corporate store locations and facilitating repairs using only curbside service processes.
● Continuing to facilitate repairs outside of customers’ homes through its remote tech mobile unit operations, using the social distancing and enhanced safety protocols.
There's nothing like that feeling of taking a brand new phone out of the box and peeling the plastic film off the screen. If your screen has seen better days, bring it to us for a repair and it'll look and work like it was right out of the box. Plus, we'll even let you peel the plastic off.
Working from home requires a computer that you can rely on. If yours is giving you trouble, we’d be happy to take a look for you.
