The project called for a 33’ x 22’ door which would close in half the time of the existing rolling steel grille. The existing grille took 33 seconds to close and secure the lobby. We presented to our customer our 300HSD door with the promise of meeting that goal. We beat the goal by 2.5 seconds. LGA is under a major construction program to modernize the airport. One of the airplane hangers is a landmark building and is being converted to a vehicle maintenance building. One of the challenges was to install high speed doors to control the interior environment while keeping as much of the old look of the hanger as possible. The solution, permanently close the 100’ wide hanger doors and cut door ways in them. Two Albany 14’x18’ high speed doors were then installed in the new openings. #highspeeddoors #overheaddoors.
