Dr. Staveley celebrated with Buddy today for his last round of chemotherapy treatment. Buddy is an amazing dog and is kind of feels like the mayor of our hospital. We will miss seeing Buddy so often but so glad he is doing well.
Today we pay tribute to Toki as he crossed the rainbow 🌈 bridge today. Toki was a frequent flyer here at the hospital. We've helped him through orthopedic procedures, removed things he shouldn't have eaten like tennis balls, and treated his cancer. He was so sweet and loveable through it all. Not to mention his family has always been so kind to our entire team. We will miss you Toki. ❤️
Mika is another one of our amazing technicians who cares for your pets when they are with us. Anesthesia monitoring is a big job for our techs, making sure the patient remains stable during the procedure. We are grateful for our techs' skill and dedication.

Exciting morning at the hospital! Dr. Zelnik delivered a litter of pups by c section. It takes a full team to support a procedure like this. We have an amazing team of skilled technicians supporting our doctors and it is great to see them work together to care for our patients. Not to mention these puppies are so cute!

We are excited to welcome Dr. Megan Witzel to the University Veterinary Hospital team! Dr. Megan Witzel grew up in the sugarhouse area and knew she wanted to be a veterinarian from a young age. After almost a decade away from the valley she is very excited to be back so close to home.
She attended veterinary school through the Washington State University WIMU program completing her first 2 years of coursework at Utah State University and finishing her degree at Washington State University (go cougs!). Professionally her interests include soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and emergency medicine.
In her free time Dr. Witzel enjoys traveling, paddle boarding, eating good food, and spending time in the outdoors with her golden retriever, Theo. Her household also includes a diabetic cat named Bear.
Donation Drive!! Join us in collecting donations for two amazing local organizations that help the homeless community.
Beginning today through December 19th we will be collecting warm winter items like coats, hats, gloves, sleeping bags, sweaters, kids; pj's, masks, general hygeine products etc. for The Road Home and Volunteers of America. Bring your donation to us here at the hospital and we will gather them all and deliver them to these organizations during the week of December 21st.

Can you spot the counterfeit? One of our patients tested positive for Lyme disease even though she was taking Nexgard year round as recommended. This is a very unusual event, so we asked to see the box that was ordered from a popular online pharmacy. One of the boxes in the photo was received from an online pharmacy (left box) and one was purchased directly from our hospital. If you have never received a product directly from a veterinary office, you would not have any comparison to know the difference in packaging or product.
