About

The World's Most Patient-Friendly MRI. A comfortable, stress-free, and completely reliable MRI scan. We offer patients an open, upright, standup MRI experience that helps those who are claustrophobic and stress being in a confined area. Upright MRI of Deerfield is recognized as the world leader in open MRI innovation

Equally exciting is the advanced technology behind the Upright MRI. Now, for the first time, patients can be scanned in a variety of positions including standing, sitting, bending and laying down. Even more importantly, with Upright MRI, patients can be scanned in weight bearing positions (and in their position of symptoms) providing the most accurate picture of the spine and joints to pinpoint the problem.

To make the Upright MRI experience even more comfortable, we’ve installed a 42” flat screen TV for patients to watch while the scan is taking place. Much quieter than conventional MRI scanners, Upright MRI allows patients to sit back, relax and enjoy their favorite television shows and movies during the process. Before you know it, the scan is completed and you’re on your way home!

"When it comes to Hollywood stars and other celebrity figures, it can be easy to forget that they are people like everyone else. Sure, they have unparalleled fame and wealth (must be nice), but they also have issues with their families, have been in bad relationships, and struggled with health problems. No more so is that evident than in the recent and untimely death of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, who passed away on Aug. 28 from colon cancer at just 43 years old. And Boseman was not alone in his struggle with cancer among the Hollywood community. In fact, many famous figures we all know have dealt with serious, life-threatening medical conditions over the years—often while their careers were thriving. Thankfully, in many cases, the outcomes are not always as tragic as Boseman's sadly was. With that, here are some of the biggest celebrities who battled cancer and won. "Our state of consciousness changes significantly during stages of deep sleep, just as it does in a coma or under general anesthesia. Scientists have long believed - but couldn't be certain - that brain activity declines when we sleep. Most research on sleep is conducted using electroencephalography (EEG), a method that entails measuring brain activity through electrodes placed along a patient's scalp. However, Anjali Tarun, a doctoral assistant at EPFL's Medical Image Processing Laboratory within the School of Engineering, decided to investigate brain activity during sleep using magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI. According to Dimitri Van De Ville, who heads the lab, "MRI scans measure neural activity by detecting the hemodynamic response of structures throughout the brain, thereby providing important information in addition to EEGs." During these experiments, Tarun relied upon EEG to identify when the study participants had fallen asleep and pinpoint the different stages of sleep. Then she examined the MRI images to generate spatial maps of neural activity and determine different brain states."
