💡 DID YOU KNOW 👻 - Like many theaters, the Uptown Theater in Grand Prairie has a ghost light! Here are a few facts:
▪️ The practical use of a ghost light is for safety. A ghost light enables one to navigate the theater to find the lighting control console and to avoid accidents such as falling into the orchestra pit/stepping on or tripping over set pieces.
▪️ In a more historical sense, the ghost light has many purposes. It is said that every theater has a ghost. The ghost light provides light at night for any spirits to be able to see and even “perform” or dance on the stage.”
▪️ COVID-19 has brought even more attention to ghost lights, there is a claim that during the 2020 pandemic closures "every stage on Broadway has a lamp that is burning". Many theaters stating "we keep the ghost light burning to remind us that we will return to the stage and performing."
