Garage Door Repair Scam
So frustrating!
I’m on a job this Saturday morning (day 6 of my work week)when I get a call. I stop working to take the call and I recognize the customer calling me. She informs me that her spring just broke and her car is stuck in the garage.
The door is a custom carriage house door that I originally installed a decade ago. She is the second owner and I have helped her out on very short notice several times, including a tedious repair on custom windows. I also repaired some shoddy work done by the home warranty company when she first bought the home.
Fast forward to today when I arrived at her home within 15 minutes of her call in an effort to help her out. Because her door is custom and extremely heavy, I do not have the correct springs on my truck. After 3 attempts I am finally able to lift the door with a broken spring so she can get her car out and not be trapped at home. After lowering the door, I inform that I will have the custom springs made and installed by Tuesday and I leave.
An hour later at my next job, I get a text from her informing me that she will be calling other garage door companies until she can find someone that will change her springs today.
She knows I am the original installer, she knows that the door is custom, she knows that she has a specialty opener, she knows that the home warranty company did shoddy work that I fixed, she knows that I have helped her out a few times, she knows that I am local, she knows that I came to help her today, she knows that it was a brutal struggle to get her car out and she then used my information about what springs she needs to call someone else out.........and I didn’t get paid a single dollar.......

I am No longer a Yelp Advertiser.
Yelp continues to list results of companies that violate all types of licensing laws. These violations include name variations, no licenses listed, operating without a license, failure to state they are unlicensed, acting as a licensed contractor and using fake addresses to appear local. These companies use private registration, untraceable phone numbers, fake addresses and no verifiable owner information to remain anonymous. You have no recourse should your job go bad.
Only 1 company ahead of me is actually located in SCV, has a valid contractors license and verifiable owner information.
Yelp wouldn’t remove them, they wouldn’t put them in the back of the list, they couldn’t even explain why they were more qualified to be there ahead of me....so I cancelled my advertising....
I am constantly amazed at the poor quality of work I see almost every day. When you call around for garage door repair, there is more to consider than "price".
Compare the way "they" install the Liftmaster Jackshaft opener and the way we install it.
Still learning how to work with Facebook. Apologies in advance if you get the same pics multiple times.
