Looking for an alternative to dental crowns? Within the last three years, we have added a new treatment option at our dental office called Bioclear. We could not be more excited to talk about it! Bioclear is minimally-invasive, which means it conserves more of the original tooth than a crown procedure does. It is also more cost-effective! Learn more about why we think Bioclear is an exciting alternative.

Michelle, thank you so much!
Happy First Day of Fall! How will you be celebrating? Pumpkin pie is fitting, but be sure to brush after!
Bioclear can be used successfully to fill these gaps in a single visit, without the need for a long-term treatment such as braces to bring the teeth together. However, Bioclear can also treat many other types of tooth gaps.
Bioclear is a procedure that uses a composite to add material to existing teeth with minimal loss of the original tooth structure. The material is injected into a mold around the prepared tooth, hardened, then contoured into the right shape and polished. By using just one injection (what is known as a “monolithic” injection), Bioclear makes teeth stronger than other procedures. It is also perfectly matched to your teeth.
Before your child's teeth erupt, you can wipe their gums with a clean cloth after meals. As their teeth start to emerge, you should brush their teeth for them using an age-appropriate brush with a pea-sized amount of children's toothpaste. Baby teeth have very thin enamel, which is why careful brushing and consistent care are so important.
We don't expect you to work magic, of course. Just wipe down your baby's gums with a wash cloth after feedings. This will reduce bacteria in the mouth and help to prepare your child for the ritual of brushing later on.

Any way you can! Though babies and toddlers don't always hold still, any toothbrushing time is good. Use just a bit of toothpaste on a soft-bristled toothbrush for children. Brush in a circular motion for two full minutes, brushing each tooth. Don't forget the gums. If you have an independent soul on your hands, you might try giving your child a toothbrush and getting a second one for you to use.
Sippy cups slow down the flow of water, as they're designed to do. But a drink of water from a regular cup will help your child wash away food particles left from their meal. In turn, it will reduce their risk of gum disease and cavities.

Try a saltwater rinse! Rinsing your mouth with warm salt water can alleviate tooth pain because it reduces inflammation. To do this, mix half a teaspoon of salt into a glass of warm water and use it as a mouthwash. However, this is only a temporary treatment—be sure to get to the dentist as soon as possible to figure out what is causing that pain.

Using a warm compress can be very useful on a sore tooth. To try this out at home, boil a peppermint teabag then pull it out of the water. Once it’s cooled off enough to safely place on your tooth, gently bite down and hold it in place. After this, sit back, relax, and enjoy the peppermint's pain-relieving qualities and the soothing warmth of the teabag.
