• Burn dry, seasoned wood only! Burning wet wood produces more smoke, which poses health hazards, and is also more likely to cause dangerous creosote buildups.
• Burn hardwoods such as hickory, oak, ash, and beech when possible. Hardwoods tend to burn at higher temperatures and tend to burn cleanly without creating as much soot or creosote.
• Use a chimney cap to prevent any animals or debris from entering your chimney.

I started with Linnemans, they are the largest, they tossed out huge numbers. I called homeAdvisors, they sent three chimney companies. Robinson maintenance repair Jimmney Chimney Valor Chimney service. They all looked at my Chimney, as Linnemans suggested $5000 repair then maybe $3000 something, Robinson uses black and white camera, where shadows look like cracks??? Jimmney Chimney and Valor uses color technology, and the cracks were shadows, and no major repair was needed. Dave Palm of Valor, the owner does the inspections, himself, very knowledgeable, professional, best price on cleaning, and fair price on the chimney caps.
