Our crew cared for a row of mature Mulberry trees this week from recent storm damage. Mulberry are tough trees. They are drought, pollution and salt tolerant and adapt to clay, rocky or sandy soil.

Your Fall Tree Tip: Use fallen leaves as organic mulch.
Fallen leaves provide 50-80 percent of the nutrients trees receive in a forest. Instead of bagging your leaves this year, do these two things for a healthier lawn, shrubs & trees:
1. Mow the leaves on your grass.
2. Rake the remaining leaves around your trees and shrubs in 3-6 inch deep piles.
Fall is the time to help your trees and shrubs recover from this past summer's extreme weather conditions. Our custom fertilizing treatments mimic the forest floor by incorporating natural micronutrients and conditioners into the stressed soil. One treatment this fall will produce a noticeable difference next spring.

Thank you C-ville Weekly for helping to bring awareness of the dreaded Emerald Ash Borer in our community. As our co-owner Jake Van Yahres shared, “If you have an ash tree and don’t get it treated, it will die."
We urge you to schedule a free assessment with one of our certified arborists to verify if you have an ash tree before it's too late. 434-982-8733 or trees@vytc.com.

Crown shyness is a phenomenon observed in some tree species, in which the crowns of fully stocked trees do not touch each other, forming a canopy with channel-like gaps. The phenomenon is most prevalent among trees of the same species, but also occurs between trees of different species.
Recent heavy rains, flooding and unseasonably warm temperatures are causing significant stress to your trees and landscape. Contact us today for a FREE Fall Assessment to identify any hidden hazards before winter weather comes our way. https://vytc.com/contact/

Santa's helpers always wear red. This week, we were glad to bring some holiday spirit to The Shops at Stonefield. Our crew restrung their holiday lights with a new technique and pruned the Chinese elms along the sidewalks to help keep the trees healthy and shining for years to come.
Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours.
